Wayne Rooney has hit
back at Roberto Mancini
after the Manchester
City boss blamed him
for Vincent Kompany's
dismissal in United's FA
Cup win on Sunday.
Mancini pointed the
finger at Rooney after
the United striker
waved an imaginary
card at referee Chris
Foy in the aftermath of
Kompany's two-footed
lunge at Nani.
Kompany was shown a
straight red card and
must now serve a four-
match ban, but Rooney
has denied that he
influenced Foy's
decision in his side's 3-2
win at the Etihad.
Rooney, who bagged
two goals in the third
round thriller, tweeted:
"Funny how people think
i got kompany sent off.
Im not ref. i didnt give
red card. But it was a
clear red card. 2 footed
tackle."
Mancini, who confirmed
the club will appeal
against the decision,
had said: "It was not a
red card. Rooney told
him his decision. He was
near the referee."
The Italian was himself
criticised last week for
waving an imaginary
card during the 3-0 win
over Liverpool in
reaction to Martin
Skrtel's foul on Yaya
Toure.
He added: "When I did
this against Liverpool,
people told me not to do
it. I said I was sorry and
made a mistake.
Today...maybe if you
look at it."
